A surfer-friendly version of the Bible has gone on sale in Australia. The volume, which is aimed at sportspeople, contains surfer stories, testimonials and glossy photographs. The Australian Bible Society published the Bibles following overtures from Christian Surfers International, who wanted a Bible to match their needs.
The inability to dance may be due to a lack of development in the brain, scientists at the University of Minnesota say. Professional dancers apparently have a better developed cerebellum—the part of the brain most commonly associated with walking and running. Scientists found activity improved in the cerebellum in people who practise new dance moves. This information could aid doctors in understanding why some people lose movement in their legs.
The problem of child soldiers flourishes in the war zones of many developing countries. An estimated 300,000 children under the age of 18 are engaged in armed conflicts around the world. While boys are mostly involved in combat, girls are used as cooks, porters and sex slaves.
The life expectancy of a rock star is 37 years. Some of those no longer rockin’, having met an untimely demise, include Keith Moon of the Who (sleeping pill overdose); John Bonham, drummer for Led Zepplin (choked on own vomit); Bon Scott, frontman for AC/DC (ditto); Jim Morrison (death indeterminate but gravesite now fourth most visited tourist attraction in France!); and Keith Richards, lead guitarist for the Rolling Stones (heroin and alcohol). Mine-clearing techniques developed in the Second World War are ineffective
today. Then their purpose was to create a path through a minefield
over which troops could cross. Today the only effective ways of clearing
are expensive, painstaking and dangerous. A brave person, working alone,
and armed with only a metal detector, uses a thin spike to probe virtually

mine detectors, which are good only for metals.
