Bono: An Unlikely Hero
The European edition of Time magazine conducted a poll, asking readers to nominate the person they saw as their greatest living hero. Nominations included politicians, religious leaders, entertainers, activists and sports stars. However, more than one-in-three people voted for a rock musician by the name of Bono.
The Imperfect Parent
I wanted to be the perfect one. I read, I studied and I watched those who I thought had it correct and I prayed. My training as a social-welfare worker had included a child development module. Then on September 1, 1997, my life and my set-in-concrete child-raising theories changed forever.
Does God Really Answer Prayer?
So is prayer mere fantasy, or does it belong in the real world? If prayer is real, how does it work?
Making Retirement Work for You
The retirement party is over and you feel great! You now have a large block of time to use as you wish. No more rushing to work; no more monthly reports to prepare. It sounds great, but unless you’ve planned your retirement well, somewhere down the line you’ll begin to feel lonely, unproductive and unfulfilled.
Daniela’s Discovery

The 3:16 Gift
The familiar John 3:16 appears toward the end of the dialogue between Jesus and Nicodemus. This dialogue, the second longest recorded in the Gospels, encompasses Jesus’ explanation of how humans are reconciled to God.
Messages from Angels
While you might’ve thought that the “gospel” was to be found in the books of Matthew, Mark Luke and John only, it pervades the whole of the New Testament. Revelation 14, for example, tells us more as it reveals the personality and work of Christ on our behalf. As the first verse of the book says, it is the “revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Heroes of Faith
Hidden in the valleys of the southern slopes of the European Alps of Italy, tight against the French border, live a people with an amazing history. Known as the Waldenses, these progeny of Peter Waldo of Lyons, France, live amid a vista of steep-sided valleys, rushing streams and snow-capped peaks. In these same valleys some 400 years ago, innocents were slaughtered and the stream flowed with blood.
Help for Mongolia’s Street Kids
Previously nomadic, the majority of Mongolians are now young, urban, and live in the capital Ulaanbaatar. With the transition in 1990 from a socialist to a market economy, 2.4 million Mongolians had to adjust to drastic political, economic and social change. More than a third live in poverty, with 20 per cent classified as “ultra-poor.”
First Principals
Mr Lowe, our gentleman headmaster, was enthusiastically explaining a maths technique to us, his Year 6 class, when one of the mothers stormed into the room. She had no appointment and he was clearly busy, but the warlike drumming of her heels suggested more urgent issues.
