Ita Buttrose’s Motherguilt

Ita is iconic among the working mums of Australia, just as she was the quintessential media personality, performing at the top level of numerous magazines and newspapers while giving birth to and raising two children. She is a busy lady, but somewhere found the time to research—and write—Motherguilt.

Where on Earth Is Hell?

The topic of hell has never been popular, and it isn’t the most pleasant in Scripture. We would all prefer to contemplate heaven and to exult in its attraction and glory, which, after all, is a better way to look at life. But what is the biblical truth about hell compared with our mental concept?

A Big Picture of Daniel

The future always fascinates us, and the Bible’s many prophecies are no different. Even if you are sceptical about the Bible’s claims in some areas, the accuracy of its predictions do more than suggest it has supernatural access. Many of the greatest prophecies and most easily verifiable prophecies are recorded in the book of Daniel, the writings of an exiled Jewish prince who became prime minister of the kingdom of Babylon, his country’s conqueror.

Child Porn: My Experience

As I rushed out in panic to get my clothes, he called a threat after me: “If you tell anyone what you’ve done, you’ll be ‘put away.’” These words filled me with dread, for I was certain I deserved severe punishment for doing something I should never have done. I dressed quickly and ran home, thankful that my mother was out . . .

What’s the Latest on Soy?

Kenneth Setchell, Professor of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati, USA, is credited with the discovery of the first mammalian dietary oestrogens and the proposal that they convey health benefits. He is recognised as one of the foremost authorities on phytoestrogens in the world. He spoke to Sanitarium’s Nutrition Service in a recent interview.

Who Killed Jesus?

According to God’s law of the universe, the death penalty was intrinsic to sin, and someone—the sinner—had to pay “the wages of sin”.

Caesarea: Dream City of the New Testament

Caesarea Maritama, is a must-see for any visitor to the Holy Land. Deserted since 1265 AD when the Muslim warrior Sultan Baybars I captured it from the Crusaders and destroyed it, today it is an Israeli national park. A visit to this New Testament site that tells a lot about the times.

Faith in Science

Of the many possible views of religion, the most common in our post-industrial world is that it can hardly be given any scientific credit and, therefore, has nothing credible to tell us. This is particularly evident among the advocates of “anticlerical” ideologies who presume that anything that cannot be explained rationally through scientific analysis presents no logic and hence cannot appeal anymore to the intellect in the modern Western sense. Popular culture and mass media follow in the same footsteps by discounting faith and God almost to the vanishing point.

Women get WELL

Rural communities are often isolated and miss out on development opportunities. Women in particular can miss out on educational opportunities and involvement in community decision making. Many are also bound to labour-intensive activities. But things are changing.

God’s Spiritual Gifts

They are supernatural endowments given at conversion, when a Christian receives the Holy Spirit to specifically help continue the ongoing ministry of Jesus and We are told to ask for them earnestly.

A Reality Check

The person who suggested that one should not complain about having no toes when there are people around without feet was spot-on. I thought about this a few months ago when I involuntarily had a visit to hospital.

The New Neighbours

It was so unlike our dog. He was usually very good at bedtime. But alas, just when we wanted to make a good impression, he barked all night. As we shoved our heads under the pillows I muttered, “Our neighbours are going to hate us.”
